Aim of the course is to apply the theoretical knowledge and understanding of social cognition that the students have acquired during the lecture and seminar. We will deepen our methodological skills and design, conduct, analyze, report, and present a study in social cognition.

Aim of the course is to apply the theoretical knowledge and understanding of social cognition that the students have acquired during the lecture and seminar and deepen students’ knowledge and skills in experimental psychology. Through lecturer’s introductions, readings, and exercises, students will to deepen and broaden their knowledge of experimental methods.

There will be a reading for most of the classes, but the readings are rather short and the handbook is well-written. There will be several homeworks, but again, they will be small and short. Their aim is to make you work regularly and to be well prepared to plan, conduct, analyze, interpret, and communicate your research.

We will concentrate on quantitative methods, but mixed methods approach will also be introduced, and for those who want, mixing qualitative with quantitative methods will be possible and encouraged. We will apply our methodological skills to design, conduct, analyze, report, and present a study in social cognition. As the course group will be small, students will get close supervision and a lot of feedback regarding their work. There will be time for discussions, critical thinking, and creativity.

After the course you should be comfortable with conducting, reading, and discussing experimental research. You will also understand better and deeper the methods and standards of scientific research, as well as rationale for using them and rationale for a well-justified exceptions from them.
