(tylko po angielsku) This course is devoted to the problematic of psychological trauma and its consequences, both negative (posttraumatic stress disorder, PTSD), as well as positive (posttraumatic growth, PTG). Aforementioned topics will be discussed in the light of contemporary research from clinical psychology and differential psychology. |

(tylko po angielsku) Knowledge After completing the course students: - know basic, as well as advanced terms connected to the phenomena of trauma and traumatic stress - understand the role of personality as well as social support in the etiology of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) - understand the phenomenon of posttraumatic growth (PTG) and its determinants - know the most important methods of psychotherapy of PTSD and ways of promoting PTG Competences After completing the course students are able to: - highlight all PTSD diagnostic criteria in DSM and ICD - mention the most important PTG models - critically evaluate important cultural factors, which influenced the impact of trauma on humans and society Attitudes After completing the course students: - realize social advantages of scientific studies on trauma and PTSD - are more sensitive to people after traumatic events - accept positive changes following trauma and adversity |

(tylko po angielsku) The aim of this course is to present various aspects of experiencing trauma by humans, starting from intuitively obvious, negative consequences of experiencing traumatic events in the form of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), to some paradoxical, positive outcomes of experiencing trauma, which comprise the phenomenon of posttraumatic growth. During this course students will mainly learn about the etiology, diagnostic methods, risk factors and effective forms of psychotherapy of PTSD. However, this course will also focus on important, yet highly understudied research areas, i.e. the psychological and social factors promoting positive changes following trauma and adversity. Finally, the aforementioned topics will be presented in the light of important cultural factors, i.e., during the course students will analyze short excerpts from literature and movies devoted to the topic of trauma. |
