A combined interdisciplinary seminar devoted to various aspects of the philosophy of language and the general theory of signs. Seminar - according to its long tradition – hosts speakers who specialize in philosophy of language, philosophy of mind and action, formal or applied logic, psycholinguistics, linguistics, computer science, sociolinguistics, information theory, theory of cognition and the general methodology of science. It is a continuation of the seminar which was held for over 40 years at the University of Warsaw by Jerzy Pelc. All seminar meetings are also scientific meetings of Polish Semiotic Society. A full list of talks and topics will be announced at the beginning of the academic year. Traditionally, the seminar will host speakers from various academic centers in Poland and around the world. Due to this reason the seminar is planned as an online event. |

A combined interdisciplinary seminar devoted to various aspects of the philosophy of language and the general theory of signs. Seminar - according to its long tradition – hosts speakers who specialize in philosophy of language, philosophy of mind and action, formal or applied logic, psycholinguistics, linguistics, computer science, sociolinguistics, information theory, theory of cognition and the general methodology of science. Efekty uczenia się: |
Knowledge: The student knows at an extended level concerning the topic of the seminar philosophical terminology in Polish and English, knows particular positions of contemporary philosophy of language and semiotics concerning selected aspects of the general theory of signs, linguistics, philosophy of language, sciences of cognition and communication, has a thorough knowledge of research methods and argumentative strategies used in analytical philosophy of language and semiotics, has a thorough knowledge of methods of interpretation of philosophical texts (KW03, KW05, KW08, KW09, KW11). Skills Students will be able to interpret philosophical, linguistic and semiotic texts, formulate arguments in favour of particular theses, analyse and critically evaluate arguments from the field of philosophy, semiotics, general theory of sign, science of cognition and communication, use philosophical knowledge in critical analysis. ((KU03, KU04, KU05, KU08, KU09, KU14, KU16). Social competences A student is able to cooperate and work in a group, taking various roles in it (a speaker, a discussant). (KK06). |

Delivering a presentation or commentary, or delivering a written paper on a previously agreed topic. Number of absences: 2 during the entire academic year |
